Forestry Commission

Forestry Commisson

The Forestry Commission is the largest land manager in Britain and the biggest provider of outdoor recreation. Its mission is to protect and expand Britain’s forests and woodlands, and to increase their value to society and the environment. It takes the lead, on behalf of Britain’s three administrations (England, Scotland, Wales), in the development and promotion of sustainable forest management.

Did you know?

Most poisonous

There are lots of contenders here – possibly the pretty red and blue rove beetle Paederus – very, very tiny amounts of its poison have been used to cure chronic ulceration in people. Ladybirds are pretty poisonous (and pretty) and can bleed foul-tasting poisonous brightly coloured blood from their knees.
