National Insect Week returns in 2022

Virtual Meetup, Hunt for the Rugged Oil Beetle with FSC Biolinks

Wednesday, June 24, 2020 - 14:30 to 15:45

On the Hunt for the Rugged Oil Beetle in the Gloucestershire Cotswolds

We will have Jennifer Gilbert joining us in this VMU. Jennifer Gilbert works for Butterfly Conservation and is the Community Engagement Officer for Back from the Brink’s ‘Limestone’s Living Legacies’ project based in the Cotswolds. This talk will focus on their work on the Rugged Oil Beetle, it is one of the rarest of the UK’s oil beetle species and is a target species for Back from the Brink’s ‘Limestone’s Living Legacies’ project in the Cotswolds. The project has been working with volunteers to learn more about the beetle’s status in Gloucestershire and with the help of project partner Buglife, is also looking to discover more about its fascinating life-cycle.

These Virtual Meet Ups are an opportunity to keep in touch and keep learning during lockdown. They are short natural history webinars, comprising of a 30-40 minute talk from either an FSC BioLinks team member or a guest speaker, followed by a question and answer session. We host them on Zoom, we will send out joining instructions on the day of the event.
