National Insect Week returns in 2020
Saturday, June 23, 2018 - 12:30 to 13:00
Most beetles prefer to remain inconspicuous - but not the firefly.
Fireflies often gather in spectacular numbers to deliver a dazzling light display after dusk, with multiple species performing their distinct displays in tandem.
The results are spectacular and overwhelming.
There is order in the lights, however - as well as a tale of life, death and chemistry.
Join Museum scientist Michael Geiser to learn more about these flashiest of beetles.
