National Insect Week returns in 2020

Bats and Butterflies Galore at The Garden House

Wednesday, June 13, 2018 - 14:00 to 22:30

The Devon Greater Horseshoe Bat Project and the Butterfly Conservation Organisation are joining forces for the day to talk bats and butterflies and detect them around the garden. This will be a fun, interesting day and we'll all learn more about the important wildlife in the garden. 

Drop in and out of the talks and events on the day. There's no additional charge, access to all the bats and butterflies is covered by your usual garden admission fee. 
2-4pm Butterfly ID workshop with Megan Lowe of Butterfly Conservation
7pm – Talk about moths
7.30pm -  Talk about the Greater Horseshoe Bat project with Helen Parr of Devon Wildlife Trust
8pm - Supper: Please book in advance by emailing or call 01822 854769
9.30-10.30 - Bat detecting & putting out moth traps!

Included in standard garden admission


Accessibility is on the whole good. Wheelchair users will be able to experience the majority of the garden on wide paths. Unfortunately we don’t have a mobility scooter to hire
